Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search widget is sent to the outside provider that powers that widget. The provider processes the request and returns its own results. Cook County Court Docket does not keep a local log of the search text entered into the widget.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor sends a message, the message and the contact details supplied with it may be retained so a reply can be made. Those details are not shared outside the operating team unless a valid legal requirement makes disclosure necessary.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, ordinary server and analytics systems may record technical visit information such as:
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and the time spent on them
- Referring site, when one is supplied
- Date and time of the page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved by a browser. They can help measure which Cook County pages receive visits and where navigation stops. Analytics services may combine those technical signals into aggregate traffic reports. Browser controls can block or clear cookies, although some parts of a web service may respond differently afterward.
What We Do With This Data
- Keep pages available and improve load performance
- Send a search request to the partner that operates the widget
- Measure which docket resources are useful to readers
- Find and correct technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect general interests
No Court-Record Data on File
This resource does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Cook County dockets or personal case histories. It provides general routing information about the Superior Clerk, Probate Court, Magistrate Court, Juvenile Court, city clerks, and Georgia case-search providers. Official case data remains with the court or clerk that keeps it. The private information received from visitors is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party case files.
The Georgia Open Records Act, including O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-72, concerns access to government records and does not turn this private resource into a court-record custodian. Court-file access also follows applicable court rules, including Uniform Superior Court Rule 21.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes are operated by outside companies. Information entered into one is processed under that company’s privacy notice, not solely under this policy. A partner decides how long it keeps a query, how it shares data, and what it charges. Review the partner terms before sending a search.
Links to Other Websites
Cook County resources link to government courts, clerk offices, provider portals, legal-aid programs, and other services. Opening an outside link moves the visit under the destination’s privacy policy. Read that policy before submitting personal information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across sites. Those systems are outside this resource’s control.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by this resource. It may be handled by:
- Search companies that process a widget query
- Analytics services that measure visits and performance
- Advertising networks that place or measure ads
- Law-enforcement or government bodies when a lawful order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used for the data collected through this resource. No internet-connected system is entirely secure, however. Protection efforts cannot promise that a breach or service failure will never occur.
Users Under 18
The resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor’s information is provided, the operating team will take reasonable steps to delete it after learning of the situation.
Your Data Rights
Georgia’s Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-72, applies to government records and is not a private-site data-rights statute. Applicable court-access rules, including Uniform Superior Court Rule 21, govern public court files rather than visitor information held here. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may still:
- Ask what personal information this resource has retained
- Request correction of an inaccurate detail
- Ask for deletion of information that is no longer needed
- Object to or limit certain forms of processing where the law permits
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as the resource, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised wording takes effect when posted here, unless a later effective date is stated.
